Dr. Bernard Lee
Dr. Bernard Lee Mun Kam is the CEO of Singapore Paincare Holdings Limited and the founder of Singapore Paincare Center. With 18 years of experience in pain management, he is a well-known authority on chronic pain treatment in Singapore and is widely recognized as "Dr. Pain."
Dr. Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore and holds a Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology). He received further subspecialty training in pain management and was awarded a Fellowship in Pain Medicine from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
In 2009, Dr. Lee set up the first Women’s Pain Centre at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and was the Director of the Women’s Pain Centre from 2009 to 2018. He also led the establishment of the pain management department in Franco Vietnamese Hospital, Vietnam in 2006.
A leader in his field, Dr. Lee established knifeless surgery via “state-of-the-art” – specialised laser/balloon injections to help patients with pain conditions such as (slipped disc, nerve compression, arthritis, frozen shoulder).
To make effective pain management more accessible, Dr. Lee has extended these services beyond the specialist level into the heartlands. He led the Group in expanding into general practice clinics and established the Singapore Paincare Academy to systematically train GPs in minimally invasive pain procedures—ensuring more patients receive timely and effective pain relief.
With a strong passion to teach, train and share, Dr. Lee has been continually involved in the education sector; from 2011 to 2017, he was a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore, and from 2011 to 2018, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. Over the years, he has also trained and mentored many doctors, locally and overseas, in both the knowledge and the practice of Pain Medicine. Being an active advocate for education on pain issues, he founded the Singapore Chronic Pain Society, aimed at bringing pain management awareness to the public.
Dr. Bernard Lee possesses a strong belief in giving back to society. Since 2010, he has been an actively volunteering in elderly homes and senior centres and has been providing free medical consultations and treatments to needy patients yearly.
